Dedication to detail brings gold
Amy Williams and 'Arthur', her sled, "surged to Britain's first individual gold medal at the Winter Olympics for 30 years". Her victory "is all the more remarkable given Britain's lack of snow and ice" (most years). "In the summer months, Amy trains on a dry run close to her home in Bath. . ." Her dedication to detail includes polishing Arthur's gleaming runners for hours before they tear down the icy course at 90mph.
Arthur was made "by scientists at BAE Systems and Southampton University".
